MISSION STATEMENT: The South Jersey Aquatic Center at Cherry Hill is a non-profit organization created to provide water – related education, training and competition in a healthy, safe environment for the benefit of the residents of South Jersey.
The South Jersey Aquatic Center at Cherry Hill (“SJACCH”) was started by a group of volunteers. These volunteers are individuals living in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties, who acknowledge that Southern New Jersey lacks adequate facilities and programs for swimming and other water related activities.
The volunteers were aware that Camden County as well as local townships had attempted to develop an aquatic program, such as the one proposed by SJACCH. In fact, Camden County commissioned a facility impact study in April 10, 2006 to determine the feasibility and benefits of an aquatic program. No facility was constructed and the need for such a facility still exists. By providing this program, SJACCH is satisfying the need of the residents of Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties, and lessening the burden on local and county governments.
SJACCH is an organization formed for charitable and educational purposes. SJACCH is organized to provide indoor aquatic facilities and training in water safety and swimming skills. These activities will be conducted by certified instructors, for the benefit of all people, including but not limited to underprivileged and special needs children, as well as seniors in Southern New Jersey.
Specifically, SJACCH is intended to train and educate individuals in the techniques of competitive swimming, and to provide adequate facilities for regular practices, competitive events, lectures, seminars and panel discussions through which trainees may be schooled in competitive swimming on local, regional and national swimming levels. The availability of SJACCH for practices, education and training will be daily.
SJACCH will also undertake fundraisers to support its charitable and educational mission by obtaining donations for the facility and/or services available for special populations including but not limited to disadvantaged youth, seniors, and special needs individuals.
